Let's see if I am as smart as Ms. Nelson's 1st graders!
1. Frogs are cold-blooded.
2. I believe that a horny toad is a reptile because the ones I have seen weren't ever close to water.
3. Reptiles start out as an egg. When they hatch they look like smaller versions of the adults.
4. Frogs breath through their skin.
5. I know that toads start out as eggs, but I am not sure if they turn into tadpoles like frogs.

How are the life cycles of a reptile and toad similar?

I am going to do my best WITHOUT looking it up or asking anyone. Please help me if I am wrong!

2. Reptile (I had one when I was little, before we knew they were endangered! They used to live around here. I had mine in a fish tank with sand, and in case you didn't know, they burrown down into dirt to hide themselves. So I thought my horny toad was gone at first, then when I dug him up, he was hard and flat---which is apparently what they do when they're scared, so then I thought he was dead. Having a horny toad is VERY stressful.)
3. I think some repties have live birth. Do they? Maybe not. Some snakes do, but are they reptiles? I don't know!
4. Frogs must think they look better a little shiny. Toads probably don't care.
5. I don't know, but at the end, I bet they die. Am I finally right?

4. frogs live in moister climates and their skin is thiner to help with oxygen tranfer and toads live in drier climates and their skin is tougher and doesn't lose it moist as fast .

These are great questions! I have to agree with all of Mrs. Ryan's answers. We will have tadpoles in our class after Spring Break!! Maybe you all can come by and visit them!!!!
