Mrs. Pearson
Let's see if I am as smart as Ms. Nelson's 1st graders!
1. Frogs are cold-blooded.
2. I believe that a horny toad is a reptile because the ones I have seen weren't ever close to water.
3. Reptiles start out as an egg. When they hatch they look like smaller versions of the adults.
4. Frogs breath through their skin.
5. I know that toads start out as eggs, but I am not sure if they turn into tadpoles like frogs.
1.cold
2.reptile
3.egg, young, adult
4.they don't drink water/they absorb it through their skin-they need extra oxygen so they get it through the water that is on their skin
5.eggs laid in a line, tadpoles, toadlets/live mostly on land and still have a small tail, toad
Now I have a few questions for you Pirates!:)
1.Do frogs/toads have teeth?
2.Do frogs have ears?
3.Whose tongue is longer?
4.What does the frogs eyeballs have to do with they way it eats?
5.How does a Gastric Brooding frog keep its babies safe?
6.What do you call a group of frogs/toads?
http://allaboutfrogs.org/weird/weird.html#next
1. yes
2. reptile
3. egg, juvenile, adult
4. Frogs spend most of their life near or in water. Toads spend most of their life on land (usually cool places).
5. egg, tadpole, toad
Enjoyed!
It appears that other people have responded to the questions. So, I have questions for you.
How are the life cycles of a reptile and toad similar?
I also have some quesions about Texas symbols.
1. Why do you think we have Texas symbols?
2. How does something become a state symbol?
3. Do you think we have any Creighton school symbols? The only one I thought of was Gerald "Thumper" Creighton.
~ Ms. Dawson
I am going to do my best WITHOUT looking it up or asking anyone. Please help me if I am wrong!
1. Cold blooded
2. Reptile (I had one when I was little, before we knew they were endangered! They used to live around here. I had mine in a fish tank with sand, and in case you didn't know, they burrown down into dirt to hide themselves. So I thought my horny toad was gone at first, then when I dug him up, he was hard and flat---which is apparently what they do when they're scared, so then I thought he was dead. Having a horny toad is VERY stressful.)
3. I think some repties have live birth. Do they? Maybe not. Some snakes do, but are they reptiles? I don't know!
4. Frogs must think they look better a little shiny. Toads probably don't care.
5. I don't know, but at the end, I bet they die. Am I finally right?
1. yes
2. reptile
3. reptiles are hatched from an egg and the young are just a small version of the adult .
4. frogs live in moister climates and their skin is thiner to help with oxygen tranfer and toads live in drier climates and their skin is tougher and doesn't lose it moist as fast .
5. uncertain but similiar to the frog .
I have two questions for you.
1. What is a group of frogs called?
2. What is a group of toads called?
Thank you Sherry
These are great questions! I have to agree with all of Mrs. Ryan's answers. We will have tadpoles in our class after Spring Break!! Maybe you all can come by and visit them!!!!
Mrs. Reid
3rd grade
